Most patients visit a chiropractor to relieve pain from injury or chronic pain in bones, extremities and joints. At Apponaug, we also can help treat spinal column problems and whiplash injuries sustained in auto and other accidents.
Doctor Caliri has years of experience treating patients with a variety of ailments. He has extensive knowledge of how musculoskeletal and nervous systems are set up – and how they communicate with each other. This is especially true in relation to the spine, along with its canals and nerves.
There are six structural techniques employed by chiropractors as they treat various conditions. These techniques are maneuvers that take skill. They help manipulate and mobilize structures and fluids. This allows Dr. Caliri to:
- Treat tissue disorders.
- Reduce pain and swelling.
- Improve range of motion that often decreases with both bony and joint conditions.
Here are the six chiropractic structural techniques that are most often used:
This most common technique of the six is used for adjustment. It calls for precise positioning of the patient. Once the proper position is reached, the chiropractor employs quick thrusts to several small areas to better align the spinal column, reduce joint dysfunction and provide patients with more comfortable and pain-free movement.
This technique uses a device known as a mallet to push and place your joints into the correct position. This technique is most often used to treat pelvic and vertebral misalignments. These misalignments often present in the form of uneven leg lengths when patients are lying flat on their backs.
This adjustment technique puts joints back where they belong so your body and its extremities are able to move more comfortably. Typically, a drop table is used. This helps specific motions and joints while the chiropractor employs gentle thrusts to the trouble spots.
This technique is most often used for sacroiliac problems. It also can be used during pregnancies if the unborn baby is in the wrong position. The Webster is a gentle technique that restores pelvic function and balance. It is used to turn babies around if they are in a breech position.
